Shoppers at the Red Lake LCBO may receive a special carry-out bag this holiday season, thanks to a partnership with Golden Learning Centre. Students at the school have been working on decorating paper bags with “Don’t drink and drive” messages and presented them to Store Manager Cynthia Manchura on Dec. 2.

The LCBO holiday bag program was introduced 15 years ago and in 2016 more than 20,000 bags have been given to police stations to distribute across the province.

“The don’t drink and drive messages are a strong reminder to everyone about the dangers involved and that impaired driving isn’t acceptable,” said Manchura this week. “The students messages are creative and compelling and generate awareness about this important issue.”

The LCBO Holiday Bag program is offered to all Ontario elementary schools. Bags that are provided to schools are without the company logo and identifiers and the company says it works with teachers and students to ensure the messaging and pictures are on-message.
