In a recent player deal, the English River Miners welcomed aboard their first local player, Ryley Pace.
Pace grew up in the Red Lake region and made the move from the Neepawa Natives, a team in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
He says he requested the trade go through: “I am happy to be back in Red Lake and a part of the English River Miners. I spent two years in Neepawa and nothing was really looking up for me, so I asked for the trade back home.”
The English River Miners are currently sitting in 5th place in their own Superior International Junior Hockey League. Pace describes this as a strong beginning for the newly formed team and looks forward to the road ahead.
“The Miners are looking pretty good so far for a first year team and the fans are definitely behind them. I think that we can definitely do some damage in the playoffs.”
