Goldcorp released its second quarter earnings and exploration reports July 25, highlighting the work the company has done during this time frame.
“With the first half of our 2018 exploration program behind us, we are pleased to report that the momentum continues to build on the results generated in the first quarter throughout the second quarter… At Red Lake, both Cochenour and HG Young advanced on schedule, the diamond drill results continued to support the prospectivity of both targets,” said Paul Harbidge, senior vice president of exploration. “New targets within the mine complex were also tested, and generative programs highlight follow up targets within the Red Lake Greenstone belt.”
In the reports, the company said surface and underground drilling at the HG Young Red Lake camp continues to advance the project towards concept study, on track for completion of the study and development of a starter mine plan by late 2019.
At Cochenour, Goldcorp indicated, “diamond drill results continued to return broad zones of economic mineralization.”
“Four high priority target areas have been identified (West Red Lake, North Madsen, McCuaig and Lennie) and are currently undergoing high resolution magnetic surveys, field mapping, soil sampling, and stripping and channel sampling of select outcrops,” explains the exploration report. “The goal of the third quarter exploration activities is to refine the geological setting of each regional target area and further assess exploration potential and future strategy. Pending positive results, a drilling program will be considered for the upcoming winter season.”
