As of about 6:00 p.m. on June 26, one lane of Hwy 618 between Red Lake and Madsen was open to traffic. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on duty said both lanes were expected to open up later in the evening. The OPP also confirmed the man who was driving the truck (pictured) was transported to hospital, but was unable to give any details on his current condition. Unofficial reports indicate he was trapped inside the truck with water up to his chin until emergency crews were able to free him, but that he is now in stable condition. At 3:00 p.m., Annemarie Piscopo of the MTO said the MTO believed the road was washed out due to a beaver dam that gave way because of the high water levels.

Pictured below, crews lift the truck out of the washed out area. The Northern Sun News will release more details as they become available.
