Mayors from the Columbian region of Antioguia joined leaders of the Municipality at the Regular Council Meeting on Sept. 25 as part of their weeklong tour of the Red Lake District. The Columbian delegation, which includes Yudy Estella Pulgarín Marín, Mayor, Frontino, Margarita Del Rosario Lopera Cardona, Mayor, Cañas Gordas, Humberto Antonio Castaño Úsuga, Mayor, Buritica and Saulo Armando Rivera Fernández, Mayor, Santa Fe Antioquia, is in town for the week as part of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Sustainable and Inclusive Communities in Latin America program. While in the district the delegation will tour the mining and forestry aspects of the community as well as discuss municipal and regional governance structures. The delegation’s first stop on Monday was a Special Meeting of Council where they were welcomed by Red Lake and First Nation leaders.
