Red Lake OPP reports two incidents from the past weekend resulted in charges laid to residents.

On July 23 at approximately 11:00 p.m., police received a report of a break and enter in progress on Howey Street in Red Lake.  The homeowner heard noises and believed someone was in the process of entering the residence.  Police arrived and conducted a search of the residence.  The suspect was located in the basement. A 29 year old resident of Ear Falls was arrested at the scene for Break and Enter.

The accused was released to appear in Red Lake court on Aug. 10 to answer to the charges of Break and Enter contrary to Section 348(1)(a) and Breach of Probation contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.

The OPP say evidence at the scene led police to believe that other thefts or break and enters may have occurred earlier in the evening.  If anyone has information, they are encouraged to contact Red Lake OPP at 807-727-2418.

The same day a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a 19 year old Red Lake resident for impaired. The driver was arrested for the offence of driving a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood and returned to the Red Lake detachment for further testing.
