Addressing food security

Another initiative to address food availability in the community has emerged. On May 27 Red Lake District High School students Chloe Hollos (left) and Justine Duncalfe revealed a food pantry they had created and installed outside the Red Lake Library. The cupboard is available for residents to donate food to and in exchange to take as needed. Duncalfe says the project was inspired by the Push for Change initiative and presented to their Social Justice and Equality class. Since announcing the project Hollos says the duo has received positive feedback adding:  “People have been saying that this is a good idea and that this generation will make a positive change in the community.”
