Your Red Lake Miners played host to the – Minnesota Iron Rangers for back-to-back games on the weekend. Kicking off on Friday, Shaye Sommerfeld opened the scoring in the first period just under seven minutes into the game.

Liam Stalwick got his first as a Miner with just under four minutes remaining in the period.

A scoreless second peri od led into the final frame where Michael Di Lullo scored on the power play. Vince Benedetto earned the shutout stop ping all 18 shots he faced. Red Lake out shot the Miners 56-18.

The next night Di Lul lo picked up where he left off and score the games opening goal. Stalwick also earned goals on back-to-back nights before Elias Thompson got the Iron Rangers on the board. In the second period Thompson added another to tie the game but from there the Miners came roaring back.

Sean Gula scored just under four minutes into the second period; Bryce Young added another for the Miners with less than five minutes left in the period and from there Di Lullo and Ethan Stuckless added two more 23 second apart. In the third Cole Bohnet extended the Miners lead on the power play. Minnesota would add two more goals from Joshua Baker, and Elias Thompson completing his hat trick, but it was not enough as the Miners came out on top by a score of 7-4.

The Miners are on the road this week before re turning home to face the Dryden GM Ice Dogs on Saturday.
